40 YEARS AGO The T-ball champions for 1986 in the Noon Lions Summer Baseball League were the players on the Custer County Abstract team. 40 YEARS AGO Chickens like this Bantam White Wyanbotte, along with other poultry, had to undergo a pullorum-typhoid blood test at a special pre-entry testing session at the Custer County Fairgrounds in south Clinton. 40 YEARS AGO Although a few items had been received by the Department of Human Services Food Bank located at the DHS office in west Clinton, it was only a small amount compared to that needed to meet the growing needs in the area. DHS staffers Lissa Lee, left, and Vickie Kenney were shown going over the food stores.

• Ben Gubitz joined 19 other freshmen football players at the Tornado Dome for equipment check-out. Head coach Mike Lee had a total of 71 athletes check out pads and jerseys for the upcoming Red Tornado season. Lee said 11 seniors, 19 juniors and 21 sophomores checked out equipment on the varsity level.
