Redistricting will always be political

Last month an initiative petition was filed seeking to take redistricting away from the Oklahoma Legislature and put it in the hands of a committee it would select. If enough signatures are collected, the question would eventually be put on a statewide ballot for voters to consider.

We have until the end of the month to get as many Oklahomans counted in the U.S. Census as possible. Our participation rate will determine the percentage of certain federal funds Oklahoma receives over the next 10 years, and we’ve fallen to 41 st in the nation in participation.

Back to school this year was different than any other because of COVID-19. We now have to wear masks at school and on the bus. I’ve seen a lot of different kinds of mask designs. Some of my classmates have Red Tornado masks, some have their own kind they made or bought.
