CEDA talks qualities for new director

In a continuance from its previous meeting, the Clinton Economic Development Authority met Tuesday afternoon to discuss more about what the entity is seeking in fulfilling the position of economic development director. Accountability appeared to be a common denominator.

Fire strikes laundromat

While the temperature outside has been getting cooler each day, the Clinton Fire Department was having to beat the heat Tuesday responding to two structure fires within 24 hours, one at the Wash House Laundromat at 610 S. 10th St. in the afternoon and the other at a home at 520 N. First St.

#10 House engulfed twice

In less than 24 hours, the house at 617 S. 16th Street was fully engulfed. An individual was arrested for suspected arson the first time, claiming to law enforcement he thought the home was “haunted.”

#3 Higbee out as CHS coach

The 2025 Clinton High School football season proved to be a rocky one with the Red Tornadoes finishing with a 4-7 record due to a forfeited contest as decreed by the OSSAA. Coach John Higbee, who has a state title to his credit and eight straight postseason appearances, was removed as head coach.

The former Clinton-Sherman Air Force Base entices western Oklahomans with the thoughts of what could be in regard to the development of new hangars and advanced aircraft leading to new jobs being created at the Oklahoma Space Port in Burns Flat.

#5 No to Mission House rezoning

After purchasing a former assisted living facility and deciding to revert back to original expansion plans, the Mission House Board saw its rezoning proposal fail for a contentious lack of a motion at a Clinton City Meeting in December.

#6 Days shaved off Exit 65

With the construction company combining multiple phases, an almost estimated 500 days were announced to be trimmed off the Interstate 40, Exit 65 project, according to the local ODOT office.

#7 A-B wins softball title
