Clinton rallies to defeat Elk City

The Clinton Red Tornado football team (3-3, 3-0) came out on top 17-12 over its I-40 neighbor, the Elk City Elks (2-4, 1-2), in a tough battle Friday in the Tornado Bowl.

For Clinton’s acting head coach, Gene Ray, he said he was proud of his guys for coming out on top despite the negative plays they had throughout the contest.

“You have to give credit to Elk City for their play tonight,” he said. “They have a really good team and fought hard in this game, but it is also a credit to our guys and how we played. Even though we gave up a fumble returned for a touchdown, we found ways to come back and eventually win the game.
