40 YEARS AGO American Cancer Society volunteers picked up their fund-drive packets at a tea hosted by Vickie Meacham. Meacham poured tea for volunteer workers from left, Janice Damron, Linda Meacham and Carol Paden.

• Leaning into the wire, Chemelle Bell arrived at the tape virtually dead even with easy running Amber Robinson in the preliminary heat of the 9-year-old girls’ 50-yard dash at the Kiwanis Little Olympics.
