With the American flag waving proudly above him and his loved ones at his side, William “Floyd” Hoffman passed from this life on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at his home in Clinton, Oklahoma. He was 91 years, 5 months, and 21 days old.
Born November 13, 1933, in Foss, Oklahoma, Floyd was the son of William Carl and Vera Mae (Smith) Hoffman. He was raised in Stafford and graduated from Stafford High School in 1951. That same year, he married Evelyn Hoffman and, on his 18th birthday, enlisted in the United States Navy, where he faithfully served his country for 20 distinguished years. He retired in 1971 with the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer.
Floyd’s decorated military career reflected his deep patriotism and commitment to service. Among the honors he received were five Good Conduct Medals, the China Service Medal, National Defense Medal, Japanese Occupation Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal. His unwavering dedication to his country remained a core part of his identity throughout his life.
