Lady Reds softball stumbles against Elk City

Midway through the softball season, the Clinton Lady Reds (4-10) headed Monday to Elk City, where the team fell 21-1 in five innings.

For Coach Michael Deatherage, he said while they did not hurt themselves on defense with errors, his team still needs to step up, especially in the circle.

“We have got to find a way to compete every game,” he said. “They hit the ball well. Elk City is a good hitting team, they put the ball in play. We did not have a whole lot of errors in the field, they were just hitting the ball well against us. Our pitchers have got to find a way to pitch around hitters and record a few strikeouts.
