Clinton to ‘send off ’ Reds to semifinals

Fans of the Clinton football team and students at all Clinton Schools will have multiple opportunities to send off the Red Tornadoes to the state semifinals today. The team buses are set to depart from Clinton High School at 1:50 p.m. Then, the buses will swing by Southwest Elementary at 1:53 p.m.

Reds see senior-laden Lions in semis

A shot at reaching the state championship is on the line, when the No. 9 Clinton football team (7-3 overall) and semifinals-host No. 5 Blanchard (10-2) meet at 7 p.m. Friday night. This is Clinton’s 37th semifinals appearance. The Reds are 25-11 in the 36 prior games.

Reds return abundance of experience

A consistent, winning standard is hard to maintain, but the Clinton wrestling program has been able to do that for a significant amount of time. The tradition has lasted long after stateplacing wrestlers, state finalist teams and through numerous head coaches.

Mendez wins FB contest

Camden Mendez of Clinton won this week’s S&D Drug football pick ‘ems contest. There were just six games that made it to kickoff due to COVID-19 cancellations and postponements.

Dethroning the champs

POTEAU – On the road, not favored and doubted by many, the No. 9 Clinton football team went to the Class 4A, defending state champ, No. 3 Poteau Pirates and stunned everybody, except themselves and the town that has followed them, in a 17-10, quarterfinals win Friday night.

CHS priming for more success this year

The Clinton basketball program looks to continue its recent rise after what’s been a solid, competitive last three years. Clinton’s boys started the run in 2017-2018, winning the regional consolation finals and reaching the area tournament.
