Clinton gets some wins at Altus

ALTUS – It didn’t take the Clinton tennis team long to pick up some wins and get some confidence after a difficult opener at the Norman Tournament, as the Reds and Lady Reds bounced back with a few wins and one top-three finish at the Altus Tournament last week.

Baseball loses by run rule at Elk

The Clinton baseball team (0-2 overall, 0-1 in district) opened district play, with a 13-3, run-rule loss at Elk City (2-2, 1-0) Monday. Across the first two innings, it looked like the Reds and Elks were headed for a defensive battle, with four zeroes penciled in.

Fields’ effort ends in varsity spot

There’s a candid attitude and a non-stop work ethic that Clinton basketball senior guard Evan Fields used in his career. His goal wasn’t to be the star on the team. In fact, he said he understood what his abilities were when he reached the high school game.

Indians take third at tourney

STERLING – The No. 13 Arapaho-Butler baseball team (2-1 overall) sprinted out to a winning start before spring break, going 2-1 and earning third place at the Sterling Tournament Saturday, despite being only a week removed from a state tourney appearance in basketball.

CHS stays winning ahead of break

Per usual, the Clinton soccer program is off to a nice start and heads into spring break with two sweeps, the second of which came against Lawton MacArthur Thursday night at the Tornado Bowl.

Late miscues cost Reds in opener

Walks and a couple errors in the sixth inning undid the Clinton baseball team’s 6-4 lead, and the Reds (0-1 overall) were unable to get it back in a 7-6 season-opening loss to the Cache Bulldogs (4-0) Thursday night at home. CHS put itself in solid position to get the win in the fifth inning.

Clinton track places multiple at home

The Clinton High School track program competed in its second meet of the season, Thursday at home, and numerous CHS athletes placed in the top three. The 800-meter relay took home first for the boys with a time of 1:41.34.

Clinton fights stout wind at Guthrie

GUTHRIE – Strong wind gusts welcomed a new batch of Clinton starting golfers Wednesday in Guthrie’s Tournament at Cimarron National Golf Club. The Reds shot 382 as a team and placed in the back third of the pack, according to CHS head golf coach Mike Lee. He didn’t get the official ranking yet.

Cisneros leaves entertaining legacy on the court

There’s a big-play gene in Clinton senior Zade Cisneros, and it showed itself early in his varsity career on the football field and basketball court. As a sophomore, Cisneros made the first, defining moment of the John Higbee era, a pick six on the opening possession of the 2018 season.
