Volleyball beats Snyder in four

The Clinton volleyball team (5-5 overall as of press time Thursday) found its way back in the win column Tuesday night, defeating Snyder in four sets, at the Tornado Dome. The Lady Reds lost the opening set, 25-17, and then swept the final three: 25-9, 25-16 and 25-12 to nab the win.

Blackburn wins FB contest

Mike Blackburn of Clinton won this week’s S&D Drug football pick ‘ems contest. Blackburn selected eight of 10 games correctly and won the rushing yardage tiebreaker. He guessed that the Red Tornadoes would rush for 238 yards, and he was just seven yards off the final total.

Reds narrowly survive

In a seesaw second half, the Clinton football team scored 19 unanswered points on its way to a 26-7 lead and nearly watched it vanish, on the rallying arm of Woodward’s sophomore quarterback Sam Cheap. Cheap and the Boomers responded with an unanswered scoring run of their own.

Whirlwinds wallop Cache in opener

A 6-6, tie ballgame late in the second quarter, appeared destined to go into half that way for the Clinton eighth grade football team and the Cache Bulldogs. The Bulldogs attempted to go to the air, trying to conserve time and move the ball down the field in the waning seconds.
