I'm no fan of cancel culture, which seems to me to be shrill, suffocating and unforgiving. At the same time, Planned Parenthood in New York is distancing itself from its co-founder, Margaret Sanger, removing her name from one of their health centers in lower Manhattan.

Fiegener honored with recognition

Clinton High School 2009 graduate Mark Fiegener, son of Rob and Amy Fiegener, recently received firm-wide recognition during the annual leadership conference held by BKD CPAs & Advisors. Fiegener, who is the national firm’s Tulsa manager, was the company’s 2020 PRIDE Award employee recipient.

Sappington earns high collegiate marks

Taya Sappington, a 2017 graduate of Arapaho-Butler, recently received the Award of Excellence of President’s Honor Roll from Oklahoma State University. She has maintained a 4.0 grade point average for all six semesters she has attended OSU.

People are constantly bombarded with the latest COVID-19 statistics. We get aggravated listening to the newscasters describe COVID-19 numbers in an Armageddonlike fashion. For the national media, it appears the worse they can make those statistics sound, the better.

Dangers of voting by mail

President Trump has said many times that voting by mail – which will play a big role in this November's presidential election – is vulnerable to fraud. "There is tremendous evidence of fraud whenever you have mail-in ballots," Trump has noted.

My happy birthday blow-out party

It's my birthday this week. This is not normally cause for a big celebration, and this year it is less than usual. Still, unlike my husband, Peter, I actually do celebrate my birthday.
