Elk man faces drug charges

Benjamin Lance Abernathy, 42, of Elk City, is facing felony charges after he was allegedly found to be making and distributing methamphetamine in Clinton.Abernathy came to the attention of police during an investigation by the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics.

Clinton High School and Clinton Middle School were placed on a soft lockdown for 42 minutes Tuesday morning as a precaution by school officials.Supt. Nathan Meget said, “CHS and CMS were placed on a soft lockdown this morning following a phone call received by the Clinton Police Department.
