Thousands ordered to evacuate as wildfire threatens homes

SIMI VALLEY, Calif. (AP) — Thousands of people were ordered to evacuate Monday as a wind-driven wildfire threatened suburban homes in Southern California.The Sandy Fire was reported around 10 a.m. in hills above Simi Valley, about 30 miles northwest of Los Angeles.

Chamber preps to host candidates

Shepherd named new principal at Arapaho-Butler Elementary

Chanda Shepherd has been named the new principal for Arapaho-Butler Elementary School.Shepherd has been teaching for 26 years, and 13 of those years have been with the A-B school system. Since the transfer to A-B schools, she started training with the idea to go into leadership.
