The Clinton football team was chasing a shot at a state title for the better part of the last decade, and it still is, but it’s no longer off Class 4A’s radar. The program is very much in the class’s consciousness after a run to the championship game in 2020.

Red Tornadoes expanding offense

After much criticism for its up-and-down play in 2019, the Clinton offense rebounded for a much better year in 2020 and even morphed somewhat into a methodical sledgehammer in the postseason.

Defense contains depth, experience

Across the last three years, the Clinton football team has boasted one of the best defenses in the state. Regardless of how the other phases performed, the defense has stayed strong and consistent with the Reds. In fact, the team has allowed just 16.

Clinton schedule amongst the best

It’s a different year, but the same story for the Clinton football schedule, as it features five “true” playoff teams from last year on its 2021 schedule, including four teams that reached at least the second round of the postseason or further.

Through three years of his head coaching tenure with Clinton football, John Higbee has proven he was the right hire to take Clinton back to the mountain top.

Throughout its school-ball tenure, this year’s freshman football team flashed some ability, amidst two .500 middle school seasons. Now, it looks to turn the corner and become winners for the first time in their collective careers.
