Workout attendance near perfect

A little over two weeks into summer workouts, and the Clinton High School football team is seeing almost 100-percent participation, according to head coach John Higbee. The team is seeing around 68 players attend workouts this summer from 9th grade to 12th grade.

Soccer raising money

The Clinton boys’ soccer team is washing RV trailers and other vehicles, starting at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Matt’s RV in Clinton, to raise money for its state championship rings. The event runs all day and could go into Thursday. The cost is $100 a trailer but other vehicles and donations are welcome.

A brief but impactful career concluded for senior defender Americus Rodriguez, when the Lady Reds fell in the 4A semis last month against Metro Christian. The senior became a starter this year and helped recreate a solid defense, after graduating all the starters off the last state title team.

Coach Gaunt fundraising tourney set for Saturday

When news broke that Clinton head baseball coach Kelly Gaunt had been diagnosed with throat cancer, former Clinton athletes Jacob Lee and Jordan Fisher, along with multiple other former CHS athletes, organized a fundraising softball tournament for the longtime coach and his family.

Gaunt finds home at USAO

The third stop is the charm for 2019 Clinton grad Gage Gaunt, as he said he’s found a home in the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma baseball program in Chickasha. Gaunt started his career at Oklahoma State right out of high school.
