CHS boys’ golf improves scores at Weatherford

WEATHERFORD – Nearly the entire Clinton boys’ golf team saw improved scores at the Weatherford Tournament Friday, returning to play for the first time in more than two weeks. The team shot an overall score of 368. Junior Vincent Jenkins trimmed his score down a stroke to 92.

Six games turned into a 6-0 mark for the Clinton soccer program, in Friday and Saturday’s Clinton Soccer Classic, winning both sides of the tourney for the first time in school history. This was the first year the classic was played out in a festival format not in brackets.

The box score in a 7-0 loss really didn’t tell the whole, competitive story of the Clinton baseball team’s efforts against District 4A-1 leader Kingfisher Thursday in the I-40 Classic opener. The Reds (2-4 overall) played the Yellow jackets (6-2) to a 0-0 tie through the first three innings.

CHS throwing trio places at Cache

Clinton track’s underclassman trio composed of, freshman Montiel Crane, freshman Kat Meacham and sophomore Lola Hester, keeps accumulating medals and did so once again at Cache Thursday. Crane took home second in the boys’ discus with a throw of 135-feet, three-inches.

A majority of the outs recorded by the Clinton baseball team (2-3 overall, 2-1 in district), came from the mound in a 7-2 district win over Bishop McGuinness (3-7, 2-3) Tuesday night at home. Starting pitcher Caden Powell went five innings and struck out 11 of the 15 outs.
