CHS basketball returns with busy week of matchups

At this point, the Clinton basketball teams are beginning to hit midseason form with six games under their belts and numerous practice/ scrimmage reps, however the teams played just one game each before Christmas break – that’ll change in a hurry this week. CHS returns to play at 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.

Attendance limited for games

In a press release, Clinton Public Schools announced Monday that tickets will be limited for all extracurricular activities, after Governor Kevin Stitt filed the Eighth Amended Executive Order 2020-20. The order is in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

OU sets records in first bowl win in four years

ARLINGTON, Texas – The No. 6 Oklahoma football team (9-2 overall) stormed out of the starting gate, and outside of a brief lull, kept pouring it on in a 55-20 Cotton Bowl victory over Florida Wednesday night for the program’s first bowl win since the 2017 Sugar Bowl.

Arapaho-Butler senior point guard Ethan Pyron isn’t on pace to reach 1,000 points in his career, but he’s put together an all-around career stat log at 572 points, 305 assists and 230 rebounds entering the post-Christmas schedule. He averages 7.4 points, 4.0 assists and 3.

ORLANDO, Fla. – A 21-0, first-quarter lead by the No. 21 Oklahoma State football team dwindled against No. 18 Miami’s offensive attack, but the Cowboys did enough in the second half to hang on for a 37-34, Cheez-It Bowl win Tuesday.

CHS wrestlers battle at tourney

Clinton wrestlers Mason Taylor, top photo, and Trey Bennett, bottom photo, performed well in their first action of the year. Taylor had a winning record through his early matches, before an injury forced him to leave the Weatherford Tourney. He was on track to place well.

Winter sports rankings

There are four teams that’re ranked between Clinton and Arapaho-Butler heading into the post-Christmas winter athletic schedule. Clinton wrestling is currently ranked No. 19 in Class 4A but has wrestled in just one tournament and zero duals so far.

As wild and unpredictable as the 2020 college football season has been due to COVID-19, it still features many classic programs in big games, and the Cotton Bowl is no different, with No. 6 Oklahoma (8-2 overall) and No. 7 Florida (8-3) meeting at 7 p.m. tonight.

Powell fights through foul

Clinton junior post Caden Powell pushes through a Blanchard defender for a potential and-one opportunity. Powell scored a team-high 17 points in the Reds’ season opener against Blanchard. Powell and Clinton basketball return to the floor at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday night, at home against Elk City.
