Lime put team first in career

One Clinton girls’ basketball senior carries the torch for the 2021 class, and it’s fourth-year forward McKenna Lime. The lone veteran on a roster filled with talented youngsters, Lime decided to play her last year, because of the friendships she had on the team.

Edelen’s buzzer beater wins title

ARAPAHO – One year after getting a bye in the first round and cruising to an easy, district title win over Sterling, the No. 19 Arapaho-Butler girls’ basketball team (13-9 overall) had to take a difficult path, to try and win a secondstraight title.

Senior put in time to reach varsity

Just like the seniors of this year’s class, Zach Campbell stuck with the basketball program and helped it along its strong run to respectability in Class 4A. He spent all four years on the hardwood and made it his only sport this season.

Regional tourney postponed

All regional wrestling tournaments, including the Class 4A west regional that was scheduled to take place today and Saturday in Clinton, have been postponed due to inclement weather. Clinton Athletic Director Eugene Jefferson let the Clinton Daily News know of the change Thursday morning.

A-B’s district tourney times change

Due to the frigid weather blasting Oklahoma, Arapaho-Butler announced a change to the basketball district tourney. Now, opening-day games will be played at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. today. The Waukomis and Sentinel boys play in the former and the A-B girls and Sentinel play at the latter time.

CHS gets sweep streak going

The Clinton basketball program is peaking and winning at the right time, earning a second consecutive sweep Tuesday night in the Tornado Dome – this time against Newcastle. Clinton’s girls (8-4 overall) won their third-straight game with a dominant, wire-to-wire, 60-29 win over the Lady Racers.

Arapaho-Butler starts playoffs Friday

ARAPAHO – It’s become commonplace for Arapaho-Butler basketball to host the district tourney, and the program gets the opportunity again, starting Friday. Both A-B teams have had a little extra time than usual to prep.

CHS sweeps Elgin on the road

ELGIN – A quick turnaround from a pair of tough games Thursday against Woodward ended in a road sweep of the Elgin Owls Friday night for the Clinton basketball program.

Reds hosting ranked-riddled regional

The Class 4A west regional wrestling tournament is coming to Clinton this Friday and Saturday, and it features a loaded field of competitors. Including Clinton, the tourney will feature more than half of the top-15 ranked squads in the state, in the two-day tourney.
