Lady Reds’ season ends in bi-districts

HARRAH – A pair of losses in the best-of-three, bi-district series brought the Clinton softball season to a close Friday at Harrah. The Lady Reds (15-19 overall) fell to the District 4A-4 runnerup Panthers, 10-0, in game one and then 12-1 in game two.

Segal wins FB contest

Ron Segal of Clinton won this week’s S&D Drug football pick ‘ems contest. Segal won, selecting seven of nine games correctly, earning him a tie at the top of the contest. He then won this week’s tiebreaker to get his first contest win of the 2020 season.

KINGFISHER – “Old Clinton football” is a statement that calls back to the glory days, where the Red Tornadoes were regularly competing and beating the best in the state, and Friday’s 21-10 physical punishment of the Kingfisher Yellowjackets contained some classic CHS play.

CHS season abruptly ends

Thursday the Clinton volleyball team was supposed to be in Cache, competing in the regional tournament, but it instead saw its season end early due to a COVID-19 exposure and quarantine.

Kiesau lost 50 years ago

Friday, Oct 2, 2020 marked the 50th anniversary of the Wichita State football team plane crash that claimed 31 lives, including Clinton’s own Randy Kiesau. On Oct. 2, 1970, two planes carrying the Wichita State coaches and players departed for Logan, Utah to play Utah State.
