CHS baseball back in action

Three days after the opening of the 2020 summer season, the Clinton baseball team was scheduled to get back on the diamond Thursday at the Elk City Tournament. The tourney is set for Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The Reds won their opener, 6-5, Monday against the hosting Elks.

Dead period suspension adds extra work days

The cancellation of this year’s summertime dead period, which runs June 27-July 5, opened up nine total days for athletics to utilize. Now per usual, July 4th does fall in that period, so obviously, many sports will take time off. However, the other days are up for use.

Baseball time in Clinton is just days away, with the Red Tornadoes returning to the diamond at 6 p.m. Monday for a home game against Elk City. By the time CHS gets back to playing, the current roster will have played just one game in the last 11 months after last summer’s baseball season.
