Higbee to join Weatherford football

The gridiron edition of the “Custer County Conflict” just got a little more interesting for next year.Former Clinton High School head football coach John Higbee was announced as the new offensive and defensive line coach Tuesday for the Weatherford Eagles.

Red Tornado soccer ends season in semifinals

There was a tornado watch Tuesday night at Perry F. Lattimore Stadium, as the Clinton Red Tornadoes soccer team came to town to face the Sallisaw Black Diamonds in the Class 4A boys’ soccer state semifinals, with a berth in this weekend’s state title match at stake.

CBA girls’ golfer records top-10 finish at state

In the process of receiving a medal for her performance in the Class 2A State Golf Tournament, Corn Bible Academy’s Bentli Whitson also became the first CBA golfer to be named to the All-State team after she finished tied for seventh in with a score of 168, 83-85 for the two-day event.

Lady Reds golf finishes seventh in state tourney

In the final tournament of the season, also the biggest, the Clinton Lady Reds golf team finished seventh with a team score of 785 in the Class 4A State Tournament at Dornick Hills last week.For Coach Trevor Powers, he said he thought the girls did well on a hard course.

Arapaho-Butler girls’ golf finishes third in state

In the first year of hosting a full team, the Arapaho-Butler Lady Indians showed what they were made of last week at the Muskogee Golf Club, as the squad finished third in the tournament with a total score of 805.

Clinton track and field compete at state meet

On the biggest stage of the season, the Clinton High School track and field team saw mixed results this weekend at the Class 4A State Championship Meet in Catoosa Looking back on the meet, Coach Cory Strahorn said he liked what he saw from his athletes.

A-B Indians end season in state quarterfinals

The Arapaho-Butler Indians baseball team (23-4) saw its season come to an end Thursday at Shawnee High School with a 6-4 loss to Wright City in the first round of the Class A State Tournament.
