A-B pulls off major ranked win

Trailing 5-0 through the first two innings, the No. 18 Arapaho-Butler baseball team was in trouble against No. 15 Shattuck at home Monday night. It looked even more hopeless with the Indians trailing 7-1, going into the bottom of the fourth inning.

Just like Arapaho-Butler baseball, the A-B slow-pitch softball team (9-9 overall as of press time Thursday) has created winning momentum down the stretch, before district pairings are set to be released next week. A-B didn’t get a chance to shake the rust off early.

Lady Reds place third in road trip

There was no rest for the Clinton girls’ golf team to open the week, playing back-to-back tournaments Monday and Tuesday, after having played just one all season prior, but the young squad battled against the elements to take home a thirdplace team trophy Tuesday at Tecumseh’s tourney.

Area hoops haul in awards

Six players from the Clinton and Arapaho-Butler basketball teams received big-stage honors for their efforts this past season. Starting with the all-state honoree, A-B senior point guard Ethan Pyron was named to the Oklahoma Coaches Association Small West All-State team.

Reds improve to 6-1 in district

Since its districtopening, run-rule loss to Elk City, the Clinton baseball team (10-7 overall, 6-1 in district) has responded by laserlocking its focus and winning six-straight in 4A-4, including a second-consecutive, doubleheader sweep Monday night at home against Harding Charter Prep.

CHS softball picks up first win

A Clinton slow-pitch softball team (1-9 overall) undeterred by its inexperience picked up the program’s first win of the year Monday night at home, defeating Anadarko by run-rule in six innings, 19-11.

Reds place out well at home

Friday’s home tournament meant more than just how the Clinton tennis program placed out, as it was the first true home tourney in quite some time for the school. The construction of four new courts last year gave CHS 10 to play on and the opportunity to host the Hub City Tournament.
