Wrestling set to start season

Clinton’s junior high wrestling season begins at 5 p.m. tonight, at home, against Elgin. The high school’s dual is no contest, due to COVID-19. The CHS basketball season opener was canceled again. Woodward’s teams are quarantined.

Football banquet tonight

The annual Clinton football banquet is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. tonight, at the First Christian Church. The cost is $20 a plate at the door, but it will be free for coaches, players, staff and cheerleaders. Masks are required at the event.

Newcomb brings fearless edge

Fearlessness and the will to compete are two things that’re ingrained into Clinton football players, regardless of size, from the day they are able to put the pads on. If there was ever a player to live out that statement, it’s senior strong safety/wide receiver/special teamer Trey Newcomb.
