The No. 9 Clinton football team (8-3 overall) meets No. 1 Wagoner (13-0) in the 2020, Class 4A state championship at 1 p.m. today, at UCO's Wantland Stadium. It's the Red Tornadoes 26th state title appearance, and the Bulldogs 8th.

CHS hits the ground running Tuesday

Although the Clinton wrestling team hasn’t gotten on the mats yet, it is about to compete in four out of five days, once the season starts Tuesday night. The No. 12 Reds are expected to open the dual campaign at 6 p.m. Tuesday, in the Tornado Dome, against Woodward.

CHS opens year with recent champ

The Clinton girls’ basketball team is scheduled to open its 2020-2021 basketball season at 7 p.m. Tuesday, at the Tornado Dome against longtime Class 4A power, 2018-2019 state champ and preseason No. 1 Anadarko. CHS-Anadarko will be the only game Tuesday night.

Crusader receives NFL honor

Corn Bible Academy junior defensive back River Lewis received notoriety on NFL Network for his form tackle, during a game this season, earning him the week 13 Way to Play High School Award. The award is given to a player that displays proper tackling technique.

As it should be to compete for Class 4A’s gold ball, the No. 9 Clinton football team (8-3 overall) faces its toughest opponent yet, in the No. 1 Wagoner Bulldogs (13-0), at 1 p.m. Saturday at UCO’s Wantland Stadium. The two programs bring in loads of history to the matchup.

Arapaho-Butler sweeps two straight

ARAPAHO – A nearly three-week hiatus due to COVID-19 couldn’t slow down the Arapaho-Butler basketball teams, sweeping Burns Flat-Dill City and Corn Bible Academy Friday and Saturday night respectively. The No. 15 Lady Indians (4-1 overall, as of press time Tuesday) trounced BFDC, 53-17.

Bentley wins FB contest

Carol Bentley of Clinton won this week’s S&D Drug football pick ‘ems contest. There were just seven games that made it to kickoff due to COVID-19 cancellations and postponements.

Reds return to state

BLANCHARD – For the second straight week, the Clinton football team had the lead, had the ball late in the fourth quarter and needed just a couple first downs to clinch another upset, playoff win Friday night in the Class 4A semifinals.

NWOSU inducts CHS grad into H.O.F.

Former Clinton football star, Northwestern Oklahoma State national champion and NFL alum Brandon Christenson received his university’s highest athletic honor, as he was inducted into NWOSU’s Hall of Fame in a press release last month.
