Reds set for Owls in wild week

CHS goes distance in loss to rival

A strong outing from sophomore starting pitcher Kenzie Kauk and solid outfield play keyed by sophomore right fielder Saydee Starnes kept the Clinton softball team within striking distance of rival and district opponent Weatherford Monday, but it wasn’t enough.

Bentley wins contest

Wayne Bentley of Clinton won this week’s S&D Drug football pick ‘ems contest. Bentley was one of many contestants to guess four of seven games correctly (three were cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns) and won via tiebreaker.

Eagles rebound, punish Mangum

BURNS FLAT – What a difference one week made for the Burns Flat-Dill City football team (2-1 overall) Friday night at home, bouncing back from a 14-6 loss to Cordell in week two, with a statement-making, 30-12, beat down of Mangum in week three.

Pitchers leading the way on A-B’s winning streak

ARAPAHO – Three shutouts and a close, 8-7 win over Calumet has the No. 19 Arapaho-Butler baseball team (14-9 overall as of press time Monday) on a four-game winning streak. A-B’s pitchers have led the run. A-B junior Eric Flores shut out Sentinel, 3-0, Sept.

NEWS ALERT - CHS FOOTBALL WILL NOW OPEN DISTRICT PLAY AT ELGIN

Change of plans - the Clinton football team (1-1 overall) will now open district play at 7 p.m. Friday at Elgin, instead of at home versus Newcastle. That game's future is currently undecided.

CHS healthy for final stretch

A good portion of the 2020 schedule remains, and the Clinton softball team (14-12 overall as of press time Friday) is more than capable to handle it, with the entire roster healthy, for now. The much-hyped, three-girl pitching rotation for 2020 is finally slated to be together.

Reds playing Sept. 25

Thursday was a chaotic day for the Clinton football players, coaches and fans. Around 5:30 p.m. it was confirmed that Clinton football’s game at Millwood was cancelled due to a massive player quarantine. A player from Millwood’s week-two opponent, Douglass, tested positive for COVID-19.

Arapaho-Butler going strong into districts

ARAPAHO – The 2020, fast-pitch softball regular season is winding down, and the Arapaho-Butler softball team (18-10 overall as of press time Thursday) is in solid position, with an ongoing, threegame winning streak. The Lady Indians are putting together a strong finish at the right time.
