The Arapaho-Butler baseball team (2-0 overall as of press time Friday) defeated Okarche, 5-2, Thursday night in its home tournament opener. The Indians got a nice overall game from Ryan Carlisle, pictured.

Clinton volleyball’s Best of the West Tournament has been cancelled due to a player testing positive for COVID-19.

The Clinton volleyball team’s start to the 2020 season was delayed after a positive test from Erick cancelled Tuesday’s season opener. Second-year head coach Tobi-Rae Barker and the Lady Reds will now open the season tonight at the annual, home Best of the West Tournament.

Reds show positives in first practices

The glow of stadium lights off I-40 started early Monday and Tuesday morning, signifying to the rest of Oklahoma that the Clinton football team and third-year head coach John Higbee are back to work.

Area squads winning early on

The three area fall softball and baseball squads continue to pick up wins early in their respective 2020 seasons. Clinton’s softball team (2-0 overall) won its second straight contest to open the year, defeating Woodward’s junior varsity, 8-2, Tuesday night at home.

A shaky, early start flipped into a dominant win for the Clinton softball team in its fast-pitch season opener Monday night at home, outscoring Sayre 11-0 over the final one-and-a-half innings, to run rule the Lady Eagles, 15-3.
