Reds claim win at state tourney

SALLISAW – This 12U group for the Clinton baseball program has battled its entire career when backed against a wall, and it proved that statement true again Wednesday, coming back to defeat Chandler, 6-5, in the elimination game at the state tournament.

Newcomb officially a ‘Dawg’

Repeat champion

Clinton junior slugger Caden Powell took home his second home run derby title but at a different event showcase. Powell won the High Plains Shootout home run derby last year and then the Oklahoma State Games home run derby this year.

CHS moves summer mark to 3-3

HOBART – The Clinton softball team (3-3 overall for summer) rebounded after dropping both its games Thursday, with an 8-7 win over 2019 Class A State Tournament team Canute, before falling 8-2 to Navajo in the second game of the doubleheader Monday afternoon.

Clinton 12U reaches state

WEATHERFORD – Entering day two of the regional tournament Friday, Clinton’s 12U, midget, kid-pitch team needed two more wins to secure a spot at next week’s state tournament in Sallisaw.

Kid-pitch battles at regionals

Both Clinton kid-pitch squads competed in day one of their respective regional tournaments Thursday and are still alive for day two, which was scheduled to play out Friday. The 12U midget Reds traveled to Weatherford for their regional tourney.
